I am researching the surname McCandless (also seen written as McCandles,
McAndles, and McCanlis). If you can cross reference the following information
with your queries and research profiles I'd appreciate it as well. Thanks
for any help you can give. Looking for: Alice McCandless B: about 1867,
possibly near Boise or in Ada Co., Idaho D: 1914 @ Chouteau Co. Montana
M: 1890 near Bozeman, Montana to William B. Murray Resources found: 1900
Gallatin Co. MT Census showing her father was from Kentucky and her mother
was from Idaho, and listing her birth place as Idaho. Family stories put
it near Boise. She may have been of Shoshone descent. Have an obit that
lists her name as Olive McCanlis, but all others list her as Alice.
I am inquiring about Silas Luttrell born in Orange County, IN September
24, 1843 and lived in Ada County since 1901, per his obit. quoted here.
Died February 7, 1927. His brother Napoleon was my father's great grandfather.
All of Silas Luttrell's family lived in Orange County, IN.
"Silas Luttrell died on Saturday at the family home on the bench, one-half
mile east of the Union Pacific depot, at the age of 83 years. Mr. Luttrell
had been a resident of Boise valley since 1901 and was a member of the
First Christian church. he is survived by his wife and two sons, C. A.
Luttrell of Anaconda, Montana, E. J. Luttrell of Boise and one daughter,
Mrs. Lucy J. Mix of Burley, Idaho. The funeral will be held Monday at 3
o'clock at the Summers & Krebs chapel and the Rev. C. E. Burgess will
officiate and burial will be in Morris Hill Cemetery."
I have the cemetery records but was wondering if you have any other
reference to him that might show the names of his children.
His brother Napoleon B. (Joe) Luttrell might have visited him or even
lived in Boise prior to his death. Thank you for any reference of him.
